Have you ever imagined walking into a dealership to see a brand-new car and coming across a model that was on the road even before World War II? That’s what will happen at the 2nd edition of Old Cars Chevrolet Valesul this Saturday (March 14) in São José dos Pinhais.
The shine of brand-new models will give way to the charm of vehicles that defined an era in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. The event’s proposal is to transform the dealership’s showroom into a true automotive gallery, bringing together more than 100 classic cars.
The aim of the event is precisely to take vintage vehicles out of traditional parks and squares and bring them into a modern setting, creating a visual contrast between past and present parked side by side.
The organizers expect to surpass the numbers from the first edition, held in 2017. On that occasion, the showcase brought together about 70 vehicles. This year, the projection is to exhibit 105 rarities, with 80 located in the outdoor lot and 25 featured inside the store.
“Curitiba and the metropolitan region are national references in vintage motoring. The gathering brings together collectors and opens the dealership’s doors to celebrate automotive memory and offer a cultural attraction open to the public,” says Clever Nabhan, director of the Valesul units.
Cars that look like they came out of a movie
Among the confirmed vehicles are models rarely seen on the streets that shaped generations of car enthusiasts.
One highlight is the 1969 Chevrolet El Camino, a model that blends passenger-car features with a pickup. Also present will be the 1964 Impala in Lowrider style, an icon of North American car culture, the 1954 Nomad, known for the striking design of the 1950s, and a 1969 American C10.
The oldest car at the gathering will be a 1941 Chevrolet Coupe, a specimen built before the interruption of civilian production during World War II.
1954 pickup almost became a maternity ward
The public will also get to see a 1954 Chevrolet pickup that almost turned into a maternity ward. In 1962, the utility vehicle starred in a true race against time, transporting a mother in active labor. The baby born from all that excitement is the vehicle’s current owner, Zina do Carmo Zen Dal Negro.
Today, at 63, she keeps the pristine classic as a true member of the family, preserving that relic of pure affection to pass on to future generations.
Cultural programming
In addition to the vehicle exhibition, the event will feature cultural programming and attractions for all ages. The setting will include interventions by visual artists Antônio Ariel and Cynthia Lorenzo, music by DJ Evvy, a collectibles exhibit with JS Antiguidades, a kids’ area, and a food court with food trucks and roasted ribs. The venue is pet-friendly.
The show is organized by Fabiano Guma and supported by groups and clubs from Curitiba and the region, such as Curitiba Roadsters, Hot Rods Custom e Amigos, Confraria do Hot, Armazém Garagem, and Armazém Santos.
