The newest festival in Londrina, Quati Criança!, kicks off this Saturday (14), with a program of performances, experiences, workshops, and gatherings for children. The festival brings to the city groups and artists from Amazonas, Ceará, Minas Gerais, and São Paulo, in addition to local standouts. The full program is on the website www.quaticrianca.com, with up-to-date information in case of rain.
In this first edition, the festival’s theme is “Where are you, Coati?”, proposing to children the challenge of navigating the program as if on an expedition through different realms of nature and finding within them the archetype of the adventurer, the explorer, the curious one. The festival’s directors and creators, Álvaro Canholi and Carin Louro, explain that the curatorship was a playful experience, led by artist and teacher Eduardo Gasperin together with children aged 6 to 12, from different parts of the city. They were invited into this process and created a manifesto with clues for the festival’s organizers.
“From this experience, we, the artistic direction and adult curators, sought to connect with the provocations raised by the children in order to build the schedule. This was fundamental for broadening our perspectives on the relationships between the performing arts and childhoods,” says Louro.
